The Beta 87A features controlled low-frequency reduction to adjust the proximity effect and prevent the "reverberating" sound common when recording close to the mic. The standout feature of this microphone from Shure is its high-frequency boost that helps brighten the upper midrange.

The modern super-cardioid recording pattern, with zeros at approximately 125 degrees, effectively isolates your voice from other vocalists or instruments while minimizing noise as much as possible. The Beta 87A operates on phantom power.
